This research project, led by researchers at Massey University, is motivated by concerns raised by community members following a leptospirosis case in the Te Henga area and the detection of Leptospira in water samples from Lake Wainamu. As part of the study, they aim to identify potential exposure sources by sampling pest animals, the environment, domestic animals, and human participants, following a One Health approach. One of the key aims is to raise awareness about the disease and ways to prevent it.
